I like to look at clouds.

Here is one from earlier this week. It was a bright sunny day but as I watched I saw lightning flash deep within this maturing thundercloud.

The Air and Sea show is on this weekend. A whole bunch of airplanes and stuff put on a show at Ft. Lauderdale beach. Today I saw some of the fighter jets practicing their moves. Then these four came along.

When the sky looks like this, its time to go home.

Mammatus Cloud, so named because someone thought it looked like breasts. These clouds are thought to precede strong thunderstorms, or even tornadoes.

Marvelous pictures Janine. Looks like something is brewing in the last one.

I took some pictures of clouds like that a while back but only had my Nokia with me and they didn't come out too well, so I never bothered blogging them. I wondered what they were called/meant, quite spooky they were too. Can't remember if we had any bad winds after or not now, will try to check back if I've still got them somewhere.

Alfred Stieglitz liked clouds a lot, too. Photographed many of them for a time; called them "Equivalents". I like most of his work, but am strangely unmoved by the Equivalents. Goes to show, everything is not for everybody.

I am enjoying pawing through these archives immensely. The photography here is great, and the musings match that quality, as well.

Bonus points awarded for the simple fact that you are a biologist. Me like science.
